The Cork and Pig Tavern - Dinner
Samantha's parents were in town, and we decided to head to West 7th and try out the (somewhat) newly opened Cork & Pig Tavern. Garrett made reservations (which he will do as often as he can), and we were sat immediately upon arriving
The decor was modern and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. It is fairly upscale for a tavern and it would be a very nice place for a business meeting or a date night. It definitely had a social feel, but was also pretty quiet and made for an a nice dinner atmosphere. They had quite a few booths and tables for 4 to 6 person parties, but they also had a few tables that were designed to hold 10 to 12 people. There was a patio up front that was right on the corner of the main streets of the West 7th development.
For appetizers, we decided to get an order of the deviled eggs as well as an order of the cheddar bacon biscuits. While the eggs were great, the biscuits were unbelievable. They were served with a side of strawberry jam, and that just took them to another level. We started talking right then about our next trip back (hopefully brunch!) just to eat more biscuits!
For entrees, we had two orders of fish and chips, a pizza and Samantha's mother ordered a special of the night - a grilled trout filet. The beer battered fish was exactly how we like it: light breading on awesome quality fish. The pizza was great, and this place could make it pretty successfully if they just primarily made pizza. There are several other higher priced entrees on the menu that we were intrigued by, and may head back to try in the next few months. Check their website before heading out because it seems that they update their menu several times throughout the year, depending on what is in season.
